Holly Ramsay has shared intimate new details about her father Gordon's pivotal roles at her recent wedding to Olympic champion Adam Peaty. The 26-year-old, who married the 31-year-old swimmer in a lavish ceremony in Bath last Saturday, told British Vogue that the celebrity chef was deeply involved in more than just giving her away.
A Father's Culinary Touch
Gordon Ramsay did not only walk his daughter down the aisle; he also took full command of the wedding feast. Holly explained that her father worked closely with London's prestigious Savoy Grill to design the entire menu for the special day.
The sophisticated offering featured one of Gordon's signature dishes: a classic beef Wellington, expertly paired with selected wines. However, as the evening progressed, the bride opted for a more relaxed vibe. Holly personally organised a late-night snack for her guests, serving spicy vodka pasta and fries.
The Tough Guy's Tears
In a surprising revelation, Holly described how her father's famously tough exterior completely melted away in the lead-up to the wedding. She reported that Gordon 'couldn't stop crying' during the planning phase.
'Dad cries every time I talk about the wedding,' Holly said ahead of the big day. As the first of Gordon's six children to marry, she added a poignant example: 'The other day I was asking him which car he and I would take to the church, and he welled up immediately.'
Family Tensions and a Defended Speech
While the Ramsay family turned out in force to celebrate, the occasion was marked by a notable absence. Adam Peaty's mother and father, Caroline and Mark, were not present, amid an ongoing and spiralling family feud.
In the same interview, Holly staunchly defended her father's father-of-the-bride speech, saying she felt 'overwhelmed with happiness' during it. Reports suggest Gordon made a pointed comment about how his wife Tana would be 'a good mum to them both', which was viewed as a dig at Adam's uninvited mother, Caroline. The rift reportedly began after Caroline was not invited to Holly's hen do.
Holly shared a photo from the speech with Vogue, captioned: 'Listening to dad's speech, looking around the room and feeling overwhelmed with the love and the happiness on our guests' faces.'
In a further reference to the estrangement, Holly revealed that her parents paid for the couple's luxurious honeymoon to Mauritius as a wedding present. She joked that she had to tell her champion-swimmer husband, 'We weren't basing our honeymoon around a 25-metre pool.'
