GMB viewers rage at bathtub mountain guest

Good Morning Britain was flooded with complaints on Monday (July 27) as guest Tom Christopher sparked fury among viewers. The 25-year-old content creator recently carried a bathtub up Pen y Fan in Bannau Brycheiniog National Park (Brecon Beacons) while wearing flip-flops on July 17, bathed at the summit, and left the tub behind after fellow hikers encouraged him to keep it for photos.

Presenters' mixed reactions

Appearing shirtless in the studio, Tom apologised again for his actions and admitted he cannot afford a potential fine for fly-tipping. Presenter Richard Madeley, 70, said he initially thought Tom was “a bit of an idiot and lazy” but after the explanation said, “I think we should show a bit of leniency.” Kate Garraway confessed Tom could be her son and viewed from a mother's perspective, jokingly telling him to “put some clothes on,” adding, “It is crackers because you caused a problem but you didn't mean to.”

Viewer backlash on social media

Despite the presenters' change of heart, viewers took to social media to complain, branding Tom an “attention seeker.” One fumed: “What an absolute k**b this bloke is, the worst attention seeker I have ever seen. Get this tool off the screen immediately.” Another said: “Why are you giving this loser the attention he desperately wants with his pathetic 'social media' stunts?” A third posted: “I don’t care if he can’t afford. Make him take out a loan and pay it off. Plonker.” A fourth shared: “Is he trying to crowdfund for his fine? He’s not going to get any support with his attitude.” Another claimed his appearance “sums up Good Morning Britain.” Not everyone agreed; one wrote: “Tom Christopher on @GMB is a lovely lad. Yes, he did wrong but I believe it was a genuine fluff up.”
