GMB Viewers Complain Over Harry and Meghan Coverage

Good Morning Britain viewers expressed frustration as the show continued its coverage of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's return to the UK.

The ITV show returned to screens on Friday (August 21) with presenters Kate Garraway and Ranvir Singh on hand to talk about the latest news from around the world, reports the Mirror.

Up for discussion in the latest instalment were reports of the huge amount it could cost to keep Prince Harry and Meghan Markle safe when they return to the UK. It was reported this week that the pair will return later this month, establishing their residence in a non-royal property outside London.

Poll Results and Complaints

It is understood there will be no alteration to Harry and Meghan's position and standing as private citizens and non-working members of the royal family. However, new claims have been made in which it could apparently cost £5 million to keep the Sussexes safe in the UK.

As well as discussing the reported huge bill, GMB also put out a poll asking the show's viewers if it is time for Prince William to 'forgive and forget' his brother Harry. Later on the results were in revealing 27% of viewers were in favour of Prince William forgiving Harry while 73% were against it.

But fans at home were not impressed with the Harry and Meghan coverage, with one person declaring “change the record”.

Viewer Reactions on Social Media

On X, one person said: “How much would it cost for this to not be the main news! Maybe do a poll on how many of us want it to be, if it's huge carry on , if it's not, find something else to chat about please.”

Someone else added: “Why can't we just leave them alone and change the record. There are bigger things going off in the world.” A third chimed in: “This is all you've been banging on about now for 2 days. Change the record more important things are going on in the world.”

Meanwhile, The Telegraph and The Sun, which both revealed the story on Wednesday evening, report that the couple's children, Prince Archie, seven, and Princess Lilibet, five, are registered to begin at British schools in September. Harry and Meghan, who wed at St George's Chapel, Windsor Castle, in May 2018 to become the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, were previously described as part of the "Fab Four" alongside the then-Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. GMB airs Monday to Friday from 6am on ITV1.
