GMB Celebrity Traitors coverage sparks complaints over spoilers

Good Morning Britain presenters sparked backlash during Friday's show (October 2) as they spoke about the return of the new series of Celebrity Traitors. The BBC programme began on Thursday night (October 1) as Claudia Winkleman welcomed a fresh batch of famous faces to the Scottish castle.

This year, viewers will see the likes of Maya Jama, Ross Kemp, Bella Ramsey and Romesh Ranganathan take part in the ultimate game of detection, trust and betrayal. As the first episode kicked off, fans watched Claudia pick her two Traitors, one major blunder, a shocking twist and suspicions beginning to rise.

Presenters dress up for the segment

To speak about the latest antics on the show, GMB's Richard Arnold dressed up as Claudia in a black wig, black blazer and fingerless gloves. Similarly, Laura Tobin and Ranvir Singh were seen on the ITV show wearing green capes, reports the Mirror.

As they joked they were going to 'murder' Kate, in reference to her time on the programme last year, the ITV presenter remarked: "This is all very triggering." Telling them she was 'a total Faithful', Kate told her co-stars she remained 'flabbergasted', teasing people can't trust their friends.

Despite the playful sketch, people were not thrilled with how much Celebrity Traitors was spoken about on the show. One person on X said they had to 'turn over' as they hadn't had time to watch the programme yet and didn't want the show to be 'spoiled' for them. Another agreed with them 'spoiling the show', sharing they won't be watching GMB 'for a while'. While another called it 'embarrassing' how long Celebrity Traitors was spoken about.

During their discussion, the presenter spoke about former EastEnders star Ross Kemp and his paranoia about being 'murdered' by the stars on the show. Richard called him 'television gold' as the show played a snippet of some of the accusations he had made in the first episode.

Ross Kemp's paranoia discussed

The soap icon thought Bella may have 'murdered in plain sight' when they put a hat on his head, while he later accused Leigh-Anne Pinnock of doing the same when she brushed his arm. Kate commented: "You'll remember from the last series, there was circulation throughout the whole show as to how Paloma (Faith) was murdered in plain sight. Ross has gone straight into that."

She added, "At this point, I'm not even sure the traitors were picked, and he was thinking he was being murdered in plain sight. I identify with you, Ross. I'm with you. You don't know what's going on; you're looking out for everything."

Entering the castle this year are celebrities Amol Rajan, Bella Ramsey, Jerry Hall, James Acaster, James Blunt, Professor Hannah Fry, Richard E. Grant, Myha'la, Miranda Hart and Joe Lycett. Completing the castle's line-up are Joanne McNally, King Kenny, Rob Beckett, Maya Jama, Julie Hesmondhalgh, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Michael Sheen, Sharon Rooney, Ross Kemp, Romesh Ranganathan and Sebastian Croft.

Celebrity Traitors is available to watch on BBC iPlayer. Good Morning Britain is available to watch on ITV weekdays from 6am.
