Cole Walliser, the director of the Glambot, has defended Jennifer Lopez after she faced backlash for her behaviour at the Golden Globes. Thousands criticised the singer and actress for appearing 'disrespectful' during her interaction with the slow-motion camera.
In videos circulating online, Lopez barely looked up, murmured a hello, and turned her back to Walliser before quickly filming her pose. After a few seconds, she waved and walked away. Many viewers branded her actions as 'rude'.
However, Walliser urged the internet to 'calm down' in a social media video, explaining that he did not take it personally. He noted that the red carpet was closing and Lopez was 'down to business'. 'That moment didn't feel rude,' he said, adding that her closed-off demeanour was due to her preparing for the move.
Walliser compared the incident to Cara Delevingne's Glambot at the 2023 Oscars, where she appeared to roll her eyes. He said he did not notice it at the time and would have edited it out if he had. He emphasised that the red carpet environment is 'generally insane', with publicists rushing stars between obligations.
Despite the criticism, Walliser stated that he always appreciates celebrities who stop for the Glambot. 'Anybody that stops, I already like you because you’re taking the time to do my thing, and this is generous of you,' he said. He reminded viewers that the stars are at work, promoting their projects.
