Gladiators star Steel, whose real name is Zack George, has announced the birth of his son with wife Samantha, 14 months after the death of their premature son Leo.

New Arrival Brings Healing

The couple shared the joyful news on Instagram, posting a photo of themselves smiling with their newborn while Samantha remained in her hospital bed. In the caption, Zack wrote: "You will heal us more than you will ever know. We love you so much… Our baby boy."

Fellow Gladiator Matty Campbell, known as Bionic on the show, commented: "Over the moon for you both," accompanied by three heart emojis. Other well-wishers included Ella Mae Rayner and Sarah Morsia.

Previous Tragedy

The birth comes just over a year after their son Leo was born prematurely at 23 weeks on March 26, 2025. Despite weeks of care in a neonatal intensive care unit, Leo died on April 7, 2025.

In August 2025, the couple revealed they were trying for another baby, driven by their desire to give their daughter Ivy "a friend for life." Samantha told the Mirror: "I love Ivy so much I want to give her a friend for life, we've been given the OK to try again when we're ready... It's been a really short time, but I need to fill that void, we want another baby, another little boy, but we both say, 'Whatever Leo decides to give us', people say you'll never replace Leo, but I do feel my next baby will be a big part of him."

Difficult Journey

Zack previously described the harrowing experience of learning his wife was in labour at 23 weeks: "They give you a piece of paper that basically tells you the likelihood of your baby surviving, and if they do, the possibilities of issues with their sight, hearing, and other disabilities. They weren't great stats. We could have chosen an abortion. But that never would have been an option."
