TV chef Gizzi Erskine, known for her appearances on ITV's This Morning, has announced her engagement to boyfriend Matt Turner after a surprise Valentine's Day proposal. The 46-year-old restaurateur shared the news on Instagram on Saturday, posting photos of the couple beaming in sunglasses with a large ring on display.
Erskine revealed that the proposal happened during a walk, when Turner pretended to tie his shoe before pulling out a ring. She wrote: 'Went out for a walk in my PJs to make wish on some laylines, then while we were wishing, he bent over to 'tie up his shoe' and pulled out a rock. WTAF.' She added: 'I’m getting Married to the love of my life. I can’t believe it.'
The post was met with congratulations from fans and celebrities, including Daisy Lowe and Lisa Snowden. Erskine also shared that the ring was custom-made by Tessa Metcalfe, noting that Turner remembered a 'limp hint' she made years ago.
Erskine and Turner, a musician, have been together for almost four years after meeting online. The couple live in East London, where Erskine works as a chef and Creative Director of Marestreet Market in Shoreditch. In a previous interview, Erskine spoke about rebuilding her life after financial struggles during the pandemic, saying she is now 'the happiest I have ever been.'
