England vs Argentina: Girlfriend of Argentina star reveals who she'll support in World Cup semi-final
Girlfriend of Argentina star reveals World Cup loyalty

Kelci Bowers, the English girlfriend of Argentina defender Marcos Senesi, has addressed her loyalties ahead of the World Cup semi-final between England and Argentina. The match, set to take place in Atlanta on Wednesday night, puts Bowers in an unusual position as her boyfriend faces her home country.

Bowers' Dilemma

Bowers, a 22-year-old footballer who previously played for Bournemouth and represented England at youth level, took to TikTok to explain her stance. She acknowledged the awkwardness of the situation but made it clear she will be cheering for Senesi while wishing England well.

“Of course, crazy situation, didn’t think that this was going to happen. It’s kind of crazy that England are playing Argentina in the semi-final, that’s not happened forever,” she said. “I’m going to go to the game, I’m going to enjoy the game, I’m going to respect both teams, I’m going to be cheering on for my partner. I’m going to be wishing England the best game and I’m just going to enjoy it guys.”

Senesi's World Cup Role

Senesi, 29, joined Tottenham Hotspur from Bournemouth this summer. He was a late addition to Argentina's World Cup squad after an injury to Leonardo Balerdi of Marseille. Although not a first-choice starter, Senesi earned his fourth cap for Argentina during the group stage against Jordan.

Bowers' Football Background

Bowers, who left Bournemouth at the end of last season, played for Chelsea earlier in her career and represented the Lionesses at youth level. She admitted she does not watch much football despite playing the sport. “For me, if you know me, you will know that I don’t actually watch football. I play football and I love football but I don’t actually watch it,” she said.

The winner of the semi-final will face Spain in Sunday's final, after Spain defeated France in Arlington on Tuesday.
