Helen Skelton has addressed the persistent rumours linking her romantically with her 'Morning Live' co-host Gethin Jones, describing the speculation as 'wild'. The Countryfile presenter, who split from her husband Richie Myler in 2022, insisted the pair are 'not' together, despite their on-screen chemistry fuelling gossip.
In an interview with The Times, Skelton revealed that even her best friend had congratulated her on an alleged engagement to Jones. 'It's wild. I've had my best friend congratulate me on our engagement. We're not (together). We work together; he's one of my best friends,' she said.
The mother-of-three also dismissed the idea of using dating apps, saying she 'couldn't think of anything worse'. She amusingly noted that her father confuses Tinder with Vinted, the second-hand clothing app. Skelton added that her children have asked about her marital status, with her daughter wondering why she doesn't wear a wedding ring and her middle son asking if she'll 'die alone'. Her response: 'I'll die happy.'
Skelton and Jones have been linked since her separation from Myler, with reports of spa outings and close appearances at events like the Pride of Britain Awards. However, Skelton has consistently denied any romantic involvement, telling the Mirror last year: 'We just work together, we are not together.'
Jones has also commented on their relationship, telling The Sun they are 'very supportive of each other' and 'like to look out for each other'. The pair are now set to compete against each other in the Best Presenter category at the National Television Awards, while their show 'Morning Live' is nominated for Best Daytime TV.
