BBC Morning Live host Gethin Jones returned to television screens on Monday, September 1, just weeks after the death of his father. The presenter, who co-hosts the show with Helen Skelton, had taken a summer break before returning to the BBC programme.
Jones had announced his father's passing in August with a heartfelt tribute on social media. He shared a final image with his dad in hospital and wrote: 'Wales defeated England... Hymns and Arias with dad last night, before he left us this morning. The most perfect, peaceful end.'
The 45-year-old described his father as a teacher for 40 years and a headteacher for 28, noting the impact he had on education. He also expressed gratitude to NHS staff at the Heath Hospital in Cardiff for their care.
Former Strictly star Skelton and Jones were welcomed back by BBC Breakfast hosts Jon Kay and Sally Nugent, with Kay joking about the pair returning from their 'gap year'. The Morning Live team have already teased upcoming guests including Ben Fogle and Dr Punam Krishnan.
Viewers expressed their delight at the show's return, with one fan writing: 'Yay! Record it every day to watch when home from work... Welcome back I've missed you all.' Another commented: 'Fabulous! Our favourite morning TV family have been missed.'
