Gemma Collins tricked her 2.2 million Instagram followers on April Fools' Day by posting a photo of herself in a wedding dress, claiming she had secretly married fiancé Rami Hawash. The reality star, 45, who got engaged to Hawash in the Maldives in 2024, captioned the image: 'Hey guys I got married in secret recently I didn’t marry as the GC i married as the girl @rami_hawash_ knows pre fame.'

Many fans initially believed the post, but others quickly spotted the prank. TOWIE’s Carol Wright commented: 'Haha I fell for it I was going to say I didn’t see my invite.' Jedward’s John Grimes played along, writing: 'It was such a beautiful day loved being your flower boys and when Victoria Beckham gave us all a Jepic dance.' One fan noted: 'I only knew this is April Fools because your dress is too basic for the GC.'

Collins, who is stepmother to Hawash’s seven-year-old son Tristan, had earlier said she planned to marry and have a baby in 2026. Meanwhile, other news outlets joined the April Fools' spirit with fabricated stories. The Oxford Mail claimed Leonardo DiCaprio bought a Cotswolds castle for £95 million, and EuroNews announced Jessie Buckley as the next James Bond. Dazed reported Timothée Chalamet would star in a Billy Elliot reboot, while the Royal Albert Hall unveiled a Gen-Z event series titled 'Let Them Cook'.
