Gemma Atkinson has spoken of the mortifying moment her three-year-old son Thiago exposed her in public recently. On the Lost In Translation podcast with her fiancé and co-star Gorka Márquez, the pair shared details of their latest family antics.
Father's Day Outing Turns Awkward
Recounting their Father’s Day, the actress said she, Gorka, their six-year-old daughter Mia and Thiago enjoyed a meal out and watched Gorka’s national team Spain play football. Discussing the day, Gemma told listeners: "We had a lovely time [on] Father's Day but I was exposed in public wasn't I by Thiago."
"We went to Rudy's for pizza but we had to time it around the Spanish game, because Spain were playing on Father's Day, and you wanted to be back to watch the game didn't you."
The Embarrassing Incident
The former Strictly Come Dancing star went on to explain that, given the hot weather, she had opted for a loose top for the outing - though this soon became a regret. "I had Thiago in my arms and Mia holding my hand because we stopped to get some coffees for my mum and Peter [her stepdad]," she shared. "So Gorka had a tray and four coffees plus a bag of food, so you were on that duty and I was with the kids."
"And, as I'm carrying Thiago, I said, 'Oh look there's Rudy's', I said, 'We're going there for tea later'. And he went Rudy's? Rudy Dudy and pulled my top down," she added, while demonstrating her shock at the time.
A Habit of Top-Pulling
The actress said it's not the first time their son has pulled down someone’s top. "He does it to my mum and nursery teachers," the 41-year-old shared. "I genuinely don't know where he's got that from."
No strangers to discussing parenthood, the couple recently joked why a third child is unlikely to be on the cards. Speaking about a child-free break that went wrong, Gemma said she fell ill during the trip. "I got ill, of course I did, I get ill whenever I go away," she admitted. "It was literally my own fault. There's nothing I can say other than I was a greedy, indulgent pig."
Gorka chimed in to say: "That's why there's no child number three. I think she does it on purpose... I was getting ready – shave that bush and everything for the night." Rather than a romantic evening, Gemma said her partner instead witnessed an "exorcism", as she spent the night "projectile vomiting".
Relationship and Wedding Plans
The couple first crossed paths on Strictly Come Dancing in 2017 and went public with their relationship the following year. In 2021, they announced their engagement on Valentine's Day, though are yet to walk down the aisle. Recently addressing wedding plans on the podcast, she said: "None of us want a big fuss or lots of guests so we may just go and do it with just family and come back and have a huge party! I've never wanted a big white wedding. More than happy with a lovely small one. We feel married anyway."
