Welsh Great British Bake Off contestant Georgie Grasso has apologised to fans for not being able to respond to all their messages, as she prepares for what she calls a 'stressful' semi-final. The Carmarthenshire baker shared a health update on Instagram, revealing she is 'still very sore and painful' after a recent hospital visit.
Grasso, who has reached the final four of the Channel 4 show, said she has been 'overwhelmed by kindness' from supporters. She posted: 'I'm continuing to hide away at the moment and rest. But so excited to watch the semi-finals tonight!! It's going to be a stressful watch.'
The baker has been open about her personal struggles throughout the series. In October, during biscuit week, she revealed that her daughter was stillborn in 2021 at 25 weeks. She described how her necklace, bearing her daughter's hand and footprint, broke during the challenge, causing her to break down.
Grasso credited hosts Alison Hammond and Noel Fielding for comforting her, and fellow baker Nelly for sharing their grief. She said: 'I really wanted to create something special in this showstopper for Wales. I'm really sorry I couldn't give it my best.'
The Great British Bake Off semi-final airs on Tuesday, November 19 at 8pm on Channel 4.
