Gaz Beadle Claps Back at Critics Over Geordie Shore Return
Reality television personality and father-of-two, Gaz Beadle, has made a highly publicised return to the iconic MTV show Geordie Shore after an absence of nearly ten years. However, his comeback has sparked a mixed reaction from viewers, with some fans expressing delight while others have launched scathing attacks.
Fan Backlash and Beadle's Fiery Response
The 34-year-old star, who first found fame on the Newcastle-based show fifteen years ago, has faced direct criticism on social media. One particularly irate fan labelled Beadle as "embarrassing" and "skint", suggesting his return was driven by financial desperation.
Gaz Beadle was quick to hit back, taking to Snapchat to defend his decision. He firmly rejected the notion of desperation, highlighting the professional nature of television work. "Hahahaha, I love it when people put this… think you forgot TV is a job," he retorted in a pointed message to critics.
Comparing TV to Top-Level Sports
In a bold comparison, Beadle drew parallels between his television work and that of high-profile football pundits. "Is Henry skint because he does the football punditry or Micah Richards doing TV commercials? It’s a job," he argued, referencing former Arsenal star Thierry Henry and ex-Manchester City defender Micah Richards.
He elaborated on the financial incentive with characteristic bluntness: "If they wanna pay me to go on holiday with my mates for a few weeks for ££, you better believe I’m doing it. More money in the pot."
A Storied Past and a New Chapter
Gaz Beadle originally shot to fame in 2011, quickly becoming known as one of the show's wildest cast members. His tumultuous on-again, off-again relationship with co-star Charlotte Crosby provided one of the series' most enduring storylines, though the pair never settled down together permanently.
His departure from the show eight years ago was followed by significant life changes. Beadle is now a proud father to two children, Chester and Primrose, from his previous marriage to Emma McVey, which ended in October 2023. He is currently in a relationship with nurse and influencer Maia Ellen, though he has stated he will not be exposing this relationship to the reality TV spotlight.
Motivations for a Comeback
In an interview with The Sun, Beadle revealed he had extensive discussions with producers before agreeing to return. "I had a lot of conversations with producers about coming back because I wanted to make sure it was right for me," he explained.
He emphasised his desire to present a more authentic version of himself, contrasting with his earlier, more party-focused persona. "I’m not going on there getting smashed every night, because I don’t do that in real life so I’m not gonna do it there," Beadle stated, indicating a more mature approach.
The decision was also influenced by his family life and the evolution of the show itself. "As the kids are getting older, and when I heard how much the show had changed, is when I decided to come back," he added, suggesting a strategic and personal rationale behind his high-profile return to the small screen.
