Gary Lineker, the former Match of the Day presenter and England striker, has announced he is set to become a grandfather for the first time. The 65-year-old shared the news during an episode of his podcast, The Rest Is Football, while speaking with celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay.
Lineker Breaks News to Gordon Ramsay
In the latest episode of the podcast, Lineker could barely contain his excitement as he revealed the family news. He told Ramsay, 59: "We’ve got something else in common – we’re both about to become grandparents for the first time. How exciting is that?!" Ramsay responded with humor, saying: "I am secretly petrified because until they can talk and communicate with you, you can’t do much. We’re not going to f****** breastfeed, are we?"
Lineker's Family Background
Lineker is a doting father to four sons: George, 34; Harry, 32; Tobias, 30; and Angus, 28. It is not yet known which of his sons is expecting a child with their partner. The footballing great has been actively involved in his family's milestones, including celebrating son Harry's wedding to wife Annabelle in Ibiza last summer. He also used the occasion to reconcile with his brother Wayne after a 17-year feud that began in 2008 when Lineker was dating model Danielle Bux.
Lineker's Views on Personal Life
In a previous interview with Louis Theroux on his BBC podcast, Lineker opened up about his personal life, saying: "I like being on my own. I’ve got so accustomed to it now and being slightly selfish, but unanswerable to anyone." Despite insisting his children remain his entire world, he admitted he thought he was "done" with romance, adding: "I don’t know, you never know, but I just can’t imagine actually living with someone again." He kept things light-hearted, joking about taking a 'big blue pill' for physical needs and stating: "It might change, but you know, I love women’s company. I’ve got a lot of friends that I go out to dinner with."
The announcement marks a new chapter for Lineker as he prepares to welcome his first grandchild, joining Ramsay in the grandparent club.
