Andrew Garfield has opened up about the end of his relationship with Emma Stone, revealing the heartbreaking reason behind their split after nearly four years together. The couple, who first met on the set of 'The Amazing Spider-Man', reportedly ended their romance for good, though they remain close friends.
A source close to the actors told UsMagazine.com: 'They still have a lot of love for one another and they are on good terms with each other and remain close. It just wasn't working.' Another insider added to PEOPLE.com: 'There was no drama, they've been apart while working. They still care about each other.'
The pair briefly separated last April, but reunited a few weeks later. However, the distance created by Garfield's filming schedule for the historic drama 'Silence' in Taiwan reportedly took its toll. When asked about their earlier break, Stone, 26, previously said: 'I never talk about this stuff for this exact reason - because it's all so speculative and baseless.'
Despite the split, the former couple have been spotted together shopping in Beverly Hills, indicating they have maintained a friendly relationship. Garfield, 32, has not publicly commented on the breakup.
