Welsh actor Gareth Pierce, known for playing Todd Grimshaw on Coronation Street since 2020, recently enjoyed a family trip to popular Welsh destinations Mumbles (Mwmbwls) and the Gower (Gŵyr) Peninsula in Swansea.
The 45-year-old actor, born in Pwllheli, Gwynedd, took over the role from Bruno Langley, who played the character from 2001 to 2017. Gareth is a fluent bilingual actor working in both Welsh and English productions.
Welsh television career
His Welsh TV credits include Osian James in five series of Caerdydd, Nicky in Y Pris, Reg in 35 Diwrnod, and GP Brian Phelps in Cara Fi, among others.
Gareth left fans impressed when he conducted an interview in Welsh at the 2024 NTAs. One fan commented: "Well that's impressive!" Another wrote: "Ok, I did not know you were Welsh and l've met you."
Family life and travels
Gareth lives in Manchester with his wife Amy Lee Pierce, whom he married in 2014, and their 10-year-old daughter. He regularly posts in Welsh on Instagram and shares his travels around Wales, including recently seeing Metallica in Cardiff for the first time in 30 years.
Last week, he shared family photos from Mumbles and the Gower Peninsula, featuring beach snaps and restaurant food pictures. Fans reacted positively, with comments such as: "Love Mumbles!" and "Beautiful pictures."
Opening up about his family, Gareth said: "My job puts me in the public eye, but I very much try to keep my wife and daughter out of it."
