Gap x Hailey Bieber Denim Capsule: I Tried Both Jeans and Have One Criticism
Gap x Hailey Bieber Denim Capsule: I Tried Both Jeans

The Gap x Hailey Bieber denim capsule collection launched today, featuring two styles of baggy, low-rise jeans inspired by the model's off-duty 1990s aesthetic. Priced at £70 each, the limited-edition line includes the extra baggy jeans and the low-rise loose jeans, each available in three washes. However, as a 6ft woman, I found both styles too cropped for taller frames.

Extra Baggy Jeans: Great Structure but Short

The extra baggy jeans are modelled after Hailey's own beloved pair of men's Gap loose jeans. They feature a low-rise waistline and a straight, baggy leg with a simple cut. The fabric has the perfect amount of structure and weight, making them durable and easy to style. In campaign images, the jeans pool around Hailey's ankles, but on me, they fell at an unflattering cropped length. Any woman over 5ft9 will likely encounter the same issue. Styling tips include pairing with form-fitting tops, crop tops, smart blazers, or cropped jackets for autumn.

Low-Rise Loose Jeans: Smarter but Still Short

I tried the darker wash of the low-rise loose jeans, which gave them a smarter, more elevated feel. These are less baggy than the extra baggy style, making them a better fit for those who prefer straight-cut or barrel-leg jeans. The fabric feels durable and structured, with a single button fastening, zip, and belt loops. Front and back pockets are present on both styles, with more noticeable stitching on the darker wash. Both jeans include 1996 touches on the hardware and a back patch referencing Hailey's birth year, plus her signature inside the pocket lining. The length is still too cropped on me, but it's easier to get away with due to the slightly less baggy cut. It's a shame both styles don't come in long lengths like Gap's core line.

Overall Verdict: Quality but Not for Tall Women

Gap has a long history of quality denim, and this collaboration continues that tradition. The last A-lister collaboration with Victoria Beckham was acclaimed, and Hailey Bieber's capsule is no different in terms of fabric and design. However, the lack of long lengths is a significant drawback for taller women. For those under 5ft9, these jeans are a great addition to a wardrobe, offering relaxed, 1990s-inspired style at an affordable price.
