Experts at JoJo Maman Bébé have analysed a decade of ONS birth data for England and Wales between 2016 and 2025. They calculated each name's average annual growth rate to reveal the fastest and most consistently rising baby names for boys and girls. Their prediction is that by 2030, these 20 names will be some of the most popular on the playground.
Anne Varsanyi, head of buying at JoJo Maman Bébé, says: "Choosing a baby's name is one of the first opportunities parents have to express something about their family, whether that's honouring tradition, celebrating heritage or simply choosing a name they love."
"What's particularly fascinating about this year's data is seeing how quickly tastes can change. Some names that once filled classrooms have become increasingly rare, while others that were barely heard a generation ago are now among the country's favourites."
Fastest-rising girls' names
French name Maeva tops the girls' list with annual growth of 69.1%. Maeva comes from Tahiti and French Polynesia and means 'welcome' or 'to be happy'. It is already popular in France and has begun climbing UK rankings. Irish favourite Maeve follows at 47.5%, pronounced 'Mayv' and meaning 'intoxicating'. Other top girls' names include Raya (29.2%), Dua (22.8%), influenced by singer Dua Lipa, and Daphne (20.4%), which surged after the Netflix series Bridgerton. Fastest-rising boys' names
On the boys' side, French name Remy leads with 15.9% growth. Remy means rower or remedy. Italian name Enzo follows at 14.3%, meaning 'estate ruler' or 'winner'. Otis has climbed 15.7% after the lead character in comedy drama Sex Education.
