Coal & Cotton in Boothstown, Salford, is hosting a free kids cinema and offering free hot dogs to little diners throughout the summer holidays. The event runs every Thursday and Friday afternoon, starting July 23 with a screening of Encanto.
How to book
Diners must book between 2pm and 3pm on the pub's website to guarantee a space at the 3pm cinema. If the film option does not appear online for a chosen date, the showing is fully booked. Families are asked not to make multiple bookings to give everyone a chance, and while the event is free, there will be a charge for no-shows.
Film schedule
The full schedule includes: July 23 Encanto, July 24 Moana, July 30 Frozen, July 31 Toy Story, August 6 Finding Nemo, August 7 Tangled, August 13 Moana 2, August 14 Monsters Inc, August 20 Inside Out, August 21 Wreck it Ralph, August 27 Frozen 2, August 28 Toy Story 2.
Owner Jason Green said: "We know how hard it can be to find things to do over the summer, so every Thursday and Friday through the school holidays, we're turning into a mini cinema for the little ones with family films and free hot dogs in the tipi. We’re really proud of the role Coal & Cotton plays in the local community and regularly host events and collaborations."
Other summer offerings
The pub also plans live acoustic music in the garden and live music every Friday and Saturday from 9.30pm. Afternoon teas are served between noon and 5pm on Friday and Saturday, must be booked 24 hours in advance, and cost £22.95 per head for the standard option or £29.95 for the Boothstown Gin Fountain option.
The Leigh Road venue, formerly The Greyhound, reopened in 2019 after a £750,000 transformation. It is known for its outdoor heated tipi seating and produces its own hand-crafted Boothstown Gin, stocked at nearby RHS Garden Bridgewater.
