Freddy Brazier's pocket bully Pablo attacked him and his grandmother earlier this month, leaving the 21-year-old with a 3cm hole in his arm that required stitches. The Celebrity Race Across the World star feared his 18-month-old pet would be put down, but has now been assured the dog will not be destroyed.
Attack and Hospitalization
Freddy, son of the late Jade Goody and Jeff Brazier, was rushed to hospital after Pablo bit him. He told The Sun: "I couldn’t feel anything in my right arm. But then I saw blood coming out of my tracksuit. I opened it to see a 3cm hole in my arm. It was terrifying." His grandmother Jackie was also attacked by Pablo on a separate occasion, with neighbours reportedly calling authorities after the dog mauled her.
Dog's Future Secured
A source told The Sun: "Freddy had seven days to make a case to save Pablo from death and find him somewhere to stay. He has done that and he has now been assured that the dog won’t be destroyed." The source added that a urine infection may have altered the dog's behaviour, noting Pablo had not been violent before. Freddy has arranged for Pablo to go to a specialist trainer. He said: "I want my dog back, but my nan has told me that he can’t go back to her house, and my dad won’t have him at his house. I have never seen him as my dog — he’s like my son." The dog is currently in police kennels.
Legal Context
Pocket bullies are smaller dogs similar to pitbull terriers and XL bully dogs, both of which are banned by the UK government. Freddy is said to be "absolutely elated" that Pablo will not be put down.
