Freddy Brazier, 21, has revealed that he and his girlfriend Holly Swinburn, 22, are naming their baby daughter Isla Jade, in tribute to his late mother, Big Brother star Jade Goody. The couple are expecting their first child later this month.
Brazier explained that they chose the name to honour his mother without putting too much pressure on the baby. 'Calling the baby Jade as the first name felt like too much expectation on the baby. I don’t want to put any pressure on her,' he said. He added that he believes 'there will be part of my mother in Isla.'
To mark the upcoming arrival, Brazier has had a tattoo of his daughter's name on his neck. He described the tattoo as 'really painful' but said his girlfriend loves it and may get a matching one.
Brazier also spoke about the difficulty of Mother's Day without his mother, who died of cervical cancer in 2009 when he was four. He said he hopes his daughter will help him create new memories. 'Now, I’ll be able to make new memories with my baby daughter,' he said.
He has been visiting his mother's grave more often, telling her about the baby. 'I went there yesterday and had a little chat with Mum. I told her what was going on with the baby and how I am feeling,' he said.
Brazier also revealed that his father, Jeff Brazier, is excited about becoming a grandfather and has already prepared a bedroom for the baby in his house. The relationship between Freddy and Jeff has improved after a falling out over Freddy's relationship with his maternal grandmother.
