First Dates star Fred Sirieix has offered a candid glimpse into his married life, admitting that he sometimes needs space. The 53-year-old maître d' married his wife, known publicly only as 'Fruitcake', in a ceremony in Jamaica last year.
Speaking to Woman magazine, Fred said married life has been 'fun' but acknowledged the challenge of balancing individuality with being part of a couple. 'Some days I don't want to talk, or I don't want to do something. It doesn't mean that you don't want to be with the person that you're with, it's just that your individuality is there,' he explained.
The couple, who began their relationship in 2018 and got engaged in 2020, had to postpone their wedding due to the Covid pandemic. Their intimate celebration eventually took place at the luxury villa Pattoo Castle in Negril, Jamaica.
Fred, who rose to fame on Channel 4's First Dates in 2013, also shared his pet peeve about dating: phone use at the dinner table. 'Meal-time isn't just about eating, it is about the whole dining experience. Putting your phone away whilst on a date allows you to give your undivided attention,' he told the Mirror.
