Former Mexico City borough mayor Sandra Cuevas has responded to critics with a statement about her breasts after wearing a revealing top while celebrating Mexico's World Cup victory. The 2026 FIFA World Cup clip went viral, showing Cuevas in a low-cut white top at the Angel of Independence monument in Mexico City.
World Cup Celebration Sparks Online Reaction
Cuevas had been celebrating Mexico's second group stage win, a victory over South Korea following an earlier win against South Africa. She captioned the video: "2026 FIFA World Cup: Long live Mexico, from the Angel of Independence in our #Cuauhtémoc borough! #SandraCuevasMX!"
The video drew a mix of comments. One fan joked: "I saw Sandrita at the Angel too, she had some huge... Ah, what a great World Cup." Another replied: "Just let baddies be baddies omg." A third said: "The true World Cup is you, ma'am. With all due respect." A fourth posted: "So revealing... I mean the video!"
Comparison to Iconic Model
Some fans compared Cuevas to Mar Castro, the model known as "Chiquitibum" who gained fame during the 1986 World Cup. In response, Cuevas joked: "The Chiquitibum...well, guys, what can I do, I can't just take them off. They had already nicknamed me that in 1986 and it amuses me, I like it. I don't take it as an attack, there will be those who think that way and take it in a derogatory way, but that's how we Mexicans are."
Political Background
Cuevas served as mayor of the Cuauhtémoc borough in Mexico City from October 2021 to March 2024, representing the Party of the Democratic Revolution in a coalition with the National Action Party and Institutional Revolutionary Party. She currently works as a Mexico City coordinator for the Mexico Nuevo political movement, which is seeking official registration as a political party.
