Flora Vesterberg, the granddaughter of Princess Alexandra and a cousin to King Charles, has welcomed her first child with her husband, Swedish financier Timothy Vesterberg. The baby girl, named Isabel Marina Vesterberg, arrived safely on the morning of Wednesday, July 8, as announced in an Instagram post by the couple.
Meaning Behind the Name
Flora shared a photo of the newborn sleeping in a crib, dressed in a white dress and matching bonnet. In the caption, she explained the significance of the name: "She's named for the blessing that she is as well as my paternal great-grandmother. Her name also means 'of the sea' where we always feel most at peace in Scotland and Sweden." The couple expressed their joy, writing, "Timothy and I are overjoyed and full of love for her."
Line of Succession
Isabel is the first great-grandchild of Princess Alexandra, 89, and enters the line of succession to the British throne. Flora, who follows her father James and brother Alexander Ogilvy in the line, is currently 61st in line. With Isabel's birth, she is expected to become the 62nd in line.
Pregnancy Announcement and Wedding
Flora first announced her pregnancy in January via Instagram, sharing a photo of herself and Timothy standing among greenery with her hand on her bump, writing, "Delighted to share that Timothy and I are expecting our first child. We're truly over the moon." The couple married in a small, private ceremony in 2020 due to COVID-19 restrictions, followed by a church blessing at St. James's Palace in London in 2021. Guests included the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, Lady Amelia Windsor, and Lord Freddie Windsor with his wife Sophie Winkleman.
Royal Appearances
Flora is occasionally seen at royal events such as Trooping the Colour and family weddings, including Lady Gabriella Windsor's wedding in May 2019. Most recently, she attended the wedding of Lady Marina Windsor in late June, where she was photographed cradling her baby bump.
