Axed Love Island contestant Finley Maddock was told "it's not funny" after facing tough questions about his divisive romantic antics during an appearance on The Debrief. The 23-year-old came under fire following his controversial date with newcomer Elicia, which led to backlash from viewers and his fellow islanders.
Finley's Awkward Moment on The Debrief
On the programme last night (July 20), Finley was pressed about remarks made when Kavan claimed Finley had told him he'd grown "bored" of his romance with Ellie. Presenters Toni, Yas and Shakira grilled him over his behaviour, particularly after he shared a kiss with Elicia outside the villa.
Finley explained: "In there personally, I just struggled being in there. On the outside I'm here, there and everywhere so to just go in the back garden every day, get dressed, get glammed up and then waiting around, it was just a lot. The environment was just a lot for me." He added: "Because I'd found Ellie I was just thinking I'd much rather leave now and crack on with life and just start having fun on the outside."
Date with Elicia Sparks Controversy
Finley was spotted pursuing a connection with Elicia before going on a date and sharing a kiss with her outside the villa. He described the date as "exciting" but acknowledged it was "unfortunate" that it wasn't with Ellie. "The date with Elicia, everyone talks about dates in there and obviously it weren't with you (Ellie) it was with Elicia which is unfortunate, but it gave off an exciting vibe," he said. "I don't know, it was just a date, I was never going to sit there and not enjoy the date do you know what I mean?"
Toni responded: "But you did kiss her", which prompted laughter from Finley. Yet Toni raged: "It's not funny." Finley said: "It's not funny", as Ellie scolded: "No it's not."
Finley's Apology and Ellie's Forgiveness
Finley then continued: "No but it happened and yeah, I wish I didn't but I have and I can't change it, I can't undo things all I can do now is just make it right and make it up to Ellie. I'm just grateful she forgave me to be honest."
Ellie acknowledged Finley has a "lot to still prove" but she revealed she would be prepared to relocate to London to help their relationship succeed. The couple departed the villa together after Finley was voted out by his fellow islanders, with Ellie choosing to follow her heart.
