Fearne Cotton has shared a cryptic social media post about "revenge" and "resentment," two years after her split from husband Jesse Wood. The 45-year-old took to Instagram to share her thoughts on "the best way to get revenge."
In the post, Cotton wrote: "Every one of us has lost sleep, or days/weeks/years feeling angry or f***ed over by someone. Most of us will have dealt with injustice. In my early thirties I felt it in a huge way. Most of us have also wrestled with unsavoury thoughts because of it."
She added: "For those that have tried to f*** with your joy, [the best revenge] is to shine as brightly as you possibly can and live as boldly as humanly possible."
Marriage and Family Background
The post comes two years after her split from Jesse Wood, son of Rolling Stones star Ronnie Wood. The couple married in 2014 and stayed together for a decade before ending their relationship in 2024.
Jesse recently had a child with his new girlfriend Gemma. The boy, Robin, was born in August. During their marriage, he had two children with Fearne — Rex, 13, and Holly, nine. He also has two children with his first wife Tilly, called Lola, 21, and Arthur, 24.
Podcast Comments on Resentment
This is not the first time Cotton has spoken about her frustrations. In a recent episode of her Happy Place podcast, she opened up about feelings of "resentment." She said: "You need to leave room for your needs. I got so resentful, and you want to be there for friends and family but with boundaries in place."
She continued: "My resentment got so bad. I think it actually made me sick. I think I actually got sick from feeling such inner tension, like your muscles are tense, your jaws clench, like I got sick from feeling like that."
Cotton also addressed the broader issue, saying: "The other part of this issue is a very historic issue that relates to being a woman, we are to be the nurturers, the people that give and give and give give and we have this endless supply of ourselves to give other people in all manners, but that's not true."
She added: "We need to keep something back for ourselves. You do get to the point of burnout if you don't put boundaries in place. I'm speaking from a place of experience and what I do now is answer honestly. It doesn't mean you're a selfish person, it's not a one way street. You will p*** some people off and that is alright."
Anxiety and Current State
A few weeks ago, Cotton told The Sun she was struggling with anxiety. "I built up a snowball of anxiety that could be triggered by just stumbling over a word in a conversation," she said. "It was just nuts, I was crippled with anxiety, I had panic attacks constantly."
However, she added that, two years on from her divorce, she is "the happiest" she has ever been.
