Fans of Pierce Brosnan have rallied to defend his wife, Keely Shaye Smith, after a troll posted unflattering comparison photos on social media, captioning them as a 'reminder to avoid marriage'. The 72-year-old former James Bond star and his 62-year-old wife have been married since 2001, and are widely seen as one of Hollywood's most enduring couples.
The troll shared two images on X: one of the couple at the 1996 Academy Awards and another at the 2008 premiere of Brosnan's film Mamma Mia!. The post sparked outrage among fans, who praised the couple's lasting love and criticised the shallow commentary.
One fan wrote: 'I don't get some men on X devotion to degrade Brosnan's wife. They're both happy, aging gracefully, and she was & is absolutely gorgeous.' Another added: 'Dude's been married 30 years and they've both aged gracefully.'
Brosnan has previously spoken lovingly of his marriage, saying in an interview last June: 'Keely and I love each other and are blessed to have each other as companions in this life.' He credited their union to 'solving one problem after the other' and described his wife as irreplaceable.
Keely, who transitioned from acting to journalism, recalled meeting Brosnan in Mexico in 1994, describing him as having a 'mischievous sparkle in his eyes'. The couple share two sons, Paris, 24, and Dylan, 29.
