Bond girl Eva Green was rushed to hospital after reportedly suffering a gruelling injury on a Netflix set. The 45-year-old French star was involved in a terrifying accident while filming the third series of Tim Burton's Wednesday near Dublin, Ireland.
Accident Halts Production
Filming ground to a halt while the Casino Royale actress received treatment, with executives pushing production back in June. A source told The Sun: 'This was really nasty. Eva sustained an injury and was clearly in pain, and producers were taking no chances. Medics were called, and Eva went to the hospital. She underwent treatment and is now recovering well.'
Eva's Role in Wednesday
Green makes her debut in the third series as Aunt Ophelia, the mysterious and troubled sister of matriarch Morticia Addams. The character was teased at the end of the second series, with fans glimpsing Ophelia scrawling 'Wednesday must die' on a cell wall. Wednesday received Ophelia's journal and began having psychic visions.
The Dark Shadows favourite previously gushed over her involvement: 'I can't wait to bring my own touch of cuckoo-ness to the Addams Family. This show is such a deliciously dark and witty world.'
Production Challenges
This is not the first time production halted on Wednesday. The second series was paused in 2023 due to the Hollywood writers' strikes. Actress Thora Birch, 44, also had to pull out due to family illness, forcing writers to scrap her character, Tamara Novak.
The MGM Television show moved filming from Romania to County Wicklow for its second series, becoming the largest production ever filmed in Ireland. A source revealed: 'Wednesday is a huge priority for Netflix. Since it became such a streaming success, producers have gone to extraordinary lengths to keep production secret. The budget is enormous. No expense has been spared in securing huge-name actors.'
