Eugenie 'snubs' Sarah Ferguson's birthday with telling gesture

Princess Eugenie appears to have snubbed her mum, Sarah Ferguson, by not publicly acknowledging her birthday today. The 36-year-old royal is known for marking her family's birthdays with an Instagram post, much like King Charles does for senior members of the family. She has publicly wished her mum a happy birthday in previous years, though the last time was in 2024.

Royal birthday tradition broken

The royal is also known to have publicly celebrated the birthdays of her husband, Jack Brooksbank, and their children, as well as her sister, Princess Beatrice. Sarah, who is widely known as Fergie, is celebrating her 67th birthday today, though it is unknown how she will celebrate the occasion.

Sarah has largely remained out of the royal spotlight over her connection to the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Her disgraced ex-husband, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, was also evicted from the home that they previously shared in Windsor, Royal Lodge.

Family tensions reported

It was previously reported that Eugenie and Beatrice were struggling with their parents' downfall, and earlier this year, it was said that Eugenie was thought not to be on speaking terms with their father.

To mark Sarah's 65th birthday exactly two years ago, Eugenie gushed about her mum alongside a picture featuring her eldest son, August. She wrote: "Happy birthday to my beautiful mumma. So proud of the Grannie you are, the mum you are and the woman you are."

Just two years prior, Eugenie shared a post that read: "Happy Birthday, my dear mumsy!" She is not thought to have shared a post in 2023. A few years earlier, in a post celebrating her 61st birthday, Eugenie shared a public message to Sarah that referred to her as "one of a kind" and "completely unique".

Recent posts and secret visits

At the time of writing, Eugenie appears to have decided not to share a post in honour of her mum's 67th birthday. Eugenie's most recent post featured pictures of her baby daughter, Adelaide, who joined the family back in early August.

The royal's post marked her eighth wedding anniversary, and read: "Happy 8 years married my love. What you can't hear in this video is Jack asking our daughter if she likes her head being massaged that way... so thoughtful, caring, and best Dada there is to our 3. Couldn't have wished for a better partner." The adorable video shows Jack sweetly massaging the two-month-old's head, whilst she looks over his shoulder.

It has been reported that Eugenie and Beatrice have been making secret visits to their mum, with the sisters thought to be "embarrassed" over the ongoing scandal surrounding their parents. Speaking to HELLO!, royal commentator Phil Dampier said: "Friends tell me they have both been to see her at her new house in the past couple of weeks. I don't think they want to be seen with her in public at the moment, and she probably realises it's not a good idea either, but behind the scenes they are talking and trying to be supportive." It has also been reported that despite their close friendship since their divorce in 1996, Sarah is "unwelcome" at Andrew's home at the Sandringham estate.
