A final photograph of Enya with her sister Moya Brennan, the iconic Clannad vocalist who died aged 73, has emerged online. The image was taken at a wedding celebration at Drumhalla House in County Donegal during summer 2025, marking Enya's first public appearance since the Grammys in 2017.
Moya Brennan, co-founder and frontwoman of Clannad, passed away peacefully after a short battle with pulmonary fibrosis. The famously private Enya broke her silence to announce the death, stating: 'It is with a deep and terrible sadness that I must announce the death of my beloved sister, Máire. Not only was she my sister, she was a dear and close friend.'
Moya, the eldest of nine children from the renowned Ó Braonáin musical family in Gaoth Dobhair, Donegal, enjoyed a remarkable career with Clannad, releasing over 25 albums and winning Grammys, BAFTAs, and an Ivor Novello Award. She remained deeply connected to her roots, hosting open mic nights at the family pub Teach Leo.
Her Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, 17th April at 2pm in St Patrick's Church, Meenaweal, Crolly, followed by interment in Magheragallon Cemetery, Gweedore. Moya is survived by her husband Tim Jarvis and her two children, Aisling and Paul, both of whom have pursued musical careers.
