Emmerdale actress Rosie Bentham, who plays Gabby Thomas on the ITV soap, has opened up about her real-life romance after keeping her boyfriend a secret for three years. The 21-year-old star confirmed she is in a relationship with a quantity surveyor from Yorkshire, whom she met through a mutual friend.
Speaking to The Sun, Bentham shared that her boyfriend, who wishes to remain anonymous, had not seen Emmerdale before they met. 'His mum and grandparents watch it, though,' she added. The couple, who have been together for nearly three years, bonded over their shared interest in health and fitness.
Bentham admitted she prefers dating outside the public eye, having previously stated she finds it a 'red flag' when potential suitors are more interested in her character than her. She described her current relationship as 'peaceful' compared to her on-screen alter ego's tumultuous love life.
The actress also revealed that her boyfriend attended the Soap Awards with her and enjoyed the experience, despite generally shunning the limelight. 'He likes to stay anonymous, and I respect that,' she said, adding that they rarely discuss Emmerdale at home, though he finds it amusing when fans call her Gabby.
