Angela Lonsdale, who joined Emmerdale earlier this year as DS Reid, has announced that her final episodes will air this week, leaving fans disappointed. The actress portrayed the police officer who assisted Charity Dingle, played by Emma Atkins, after she was sexually assaulted by the villainous Dr. Todd, portrayed by Caroline Harker.

Taking to Instagram, Lonsdale shared a reel of her time on the soap, including clips with co-stars and scenes in the iconic village. In the caption, she wrote: "What an honour and a privilege to play DS REID and be trusted with such a sensitive storyline. Working alongside the phenomenally talented @missemmaatkins @missmichellehardwick @lawrencejarobb and Caroline was one of the highlights of my career." She also thanked the crew, including director Becky Wild and the hair and makeup team, adding: "The cast and crew made me feel part of the family from day one! Will miss you all. Final Episodes air this week."

Lonsdale's co-stars and fans quickly flooded the comments with messages of support. Laura Norton, who plays Kerry Wyatt, responded with two heart emojis. One fan commented: "You’ve been spectacular," while another wrote: "You've been great. They need to have DS Reid move into the village!" A third added: "They need to keep you in Emmerdale there isn't a police member living in the village."

Beyond Emmerdale, Lonsdale is known for playing police officer Emma on Coronation Street from 2000 to 2003, where she was paired with the beloved character Curly Watts, played by Kevin Kennedy. Her other credits include Holby City, Doctors, This Is England '90, Our Girl, The Syndicate, and Hollyoaks.
