Angela Lonsdale has confirmed her final scenes as DS Reid will air this week on Emmerdale. The actress joined the ITV soap in June 2026 as the detective investigating Charity Dingle's sexual assault.
DS Reid's role in Charity's story
After Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) was assaulted by Dr Caitlin Todd (Caroline Harker), she reported the crime to DS Reid, who gently questioned her. The next day, the officer brought Caitlin in for questioning, but due to lack of evidence, Dr Todd was released and left the village for Sheffield.
DS Reid continued trying to gather evidence of blackmail. Earlier this week, she informed Charity and Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb) that the CPS would drop the case due to insufficient evidence.
Angela Lonsdale's farewell
Angela shared a montage of behind-the-scenes clips on Instagram, writing: 'What an honour and a privilege to play DS REID and be trusted with such a sensitive story line. Working alongside the phenomenally talented @missemmaatkins @missmichellehardwick @lawrencejarobb and Caroline was one of the highlights of my career.'
She added: 'Final Episodes air this week.'
What's next for Dr Todd?
A flashforward sequence has confirmed that Dr Todd will be killed, with her body found in a pool of blood. Potential suspects include Charity, Mackenzie, and Vanessa, though Emmerdale often delivers surprise twists in whodunnits.
