Emmerdale star Chris Coghill has been sent love and support from co-stars and fans who are loving Kev Barton on the soap. Actor Chris Coghill reprised his role as Kev Barton (formerly Townsend) recently after his first stint in the ITV soap proved a popular decision with viewers.
When Kev first appeared on-screen, he introduced himself as Robert Sugden's secret prison husband who had been let out on early release as he was ill. Hoping for a fresh start with Robert, things didn't go as planned as Robert was hoping to rekindle things with ex-husband Aaron Dingle. Kev decided to leave the village after holding Robert and Aaron hostage, but before he left it was revealed that he was Lewis Barton's biological father after a one night stand with Emma Barton.
Return to the village
He did return briefly ahead of the Corriedale episode as John Sugden held him hostage to protect Aaron, but this time Kev wasn't back for Robert. Instead, he's been trying to build a relationship with Lewis. Arriving in his own cake van, Kev has been selling his popular bakes to the locals which ruffled a few feathers. Over the last few episodes he managed to come to a truce with Ross Barton after learning his baby Leyla secret.
While Nicola King may not be ready to give Kev a chance just yet, Lewis is seemingly more open and in recent episodes Kev surprised him with a Spice Girls vinyl for his birthday. As the father and son dance along to "Wannabe", the ITV soap took to Instagram to remind viewers of some of Kev's funniest moments since his return.

Including in the montage is Kev spraying Nicola with the hose, him putting vodka in Ross' cup of tea, and him coming to the rescue when Ross had been fighting with Mack. Chris' Emmerdale co-star Danny Miller (Aaron) was quick to praise him and quipped: "Best casting since Aaron". Fans in the comments followed, as one wrote: "Love Kev! Glad you brought him back". Another fan added: "Love Kev best thing to happen to emmerdale !" and someone else penned: "Please never ever get rid of @official_chriscoghill I have never laughed so much defo makes me not want to miss an episode".
