There's a heart-breaking goodbye, a relationship in turmoil and an enormous show of bravery next week in Emmerdale. Cain Dingle's fight for Monty the dog has been admirable, though next week it becomes incredibly apparent that the fight is nearing its end. Having had his life become so entwined with the beloved pet, can Cain bring himself to say goodbye?
Nicola King is worried that her marriage to Jimmy has grown stale, but when he makes a move to spice things up, she's left panicked that he's been diverting his affection elsewhere. Is Jimmy cheating on Nicola?
Still suffering the effects of Dr Caitlin Todd's sickening rape, Charity Dingle is hit with an unwelcome surprise this week. Later, she summons the courage to return to the support group, but will she find what she's looking for? Elsewhere, Noah Dingle has some huge news while Gabby Thomas makes an unwelcome discovery.
Monday, August 3
With Moira Dingle called away to visit an injured Nana Barton, Cain floats the idea of her adopting Kyle Winchester to him who, completely taken aback, seeks out Kerry Wyatt for advice. Returning home with an answer, the moment is broken when Sam Dingle interrupts – there's something very wrong with Monty. After Rhona Goskirk examines him, she tells the family that Monty's tumour could well have spread and suggests that they should consider the next steps very carefully. Elsewhere, Nicola's excitement is shattered when she learns what Jimmy has planned for them.
Tuesday, August 4
Nicole's irked when Jimmy arrives in the café with his golf clubs, and gives them a spiteful shove. When a jewellery box tumbles out, she's even angrier, having decided that Jimmy is buying jewellery for someone else and having an affair. Cain's heartbroken to find Monty sleeping on Zak Dingle's grave, with the sight finally convincing him that it's time to say goodbye to the beloved family pet, before explaining to the children what is to come. Also, Gabby discovers that Billy Fletcher kissed Dawn Taylor, while Charity's reaction to his plans to move means Noah decides to stay in the village for his mum's sake.
Wednesday, August 5
As the dreaded time finally arrives, Cain and his sons arrive at the vets alongside Monty. At Isaac Dingle's suggestion, Cain agrees that Monty should be seen off like a proper Dingle. Concurrently, Charity's bravery shines through amid her current battles.
Thursday, August 6
Charity summons all she can and returns to the support group, and manages to open up, while highlighting what she sees as the differences between her own experience and the other members of the group. The group facilitator attempts to make Charity see that the guilt and shame she's carrying truly belong to Todd, leaving her deep in thought. Meanwhile, Cain delivers a eulogy for Monty in an event that unites the Dingles.
