Emmerdale fans are set to welcome back two familiar faces after a two-year absence, but their return comes with a bittersweet twist tied to the shocking death of a legendary character. Actors Luca Hoyle and Rebecca Bakes are reprising their roles as Elliot and Angelica King, respectively, as the soap prepares for the exit of Nick Miles, who plays their on-screen father, Jimmy King.
Return of the King Children
Luca Hoyle, who has portrayed Elliot since 2016, confirmed his return to filming in an Instagram post last week. 'After a short break, I am so excited to say that this summer I am back in the studio filming for a new storyline as Elliot Windsor in Emmerdale,' he said. 'It's a role I've been lucky enough to play since 2016, and it's such a privilege to still be part of it. Looking forward to seeing where this next chapter goes.'
Rebecca Bakes will also resume her role as Angelica, last seen on screen in January 2025. A source told The Sun: 'The kids have been off-screen for almost two years but will make a return this summer. They're all really excited to be back filming but it's tinged with sadness because Nick is leaving the show.'
Jimmy King's Tragic Exit
Jimmy King, originally introduced as part of the ruthless King family, has evolved from a villain to a beloved comedy character over the years. However, his journey is set to end this summer. Another source previously told Metro: 'The scenes promise to be spectacular but the outcome will leave many fans shocked. It may prove controversial but the jaw-dropping storyline will set in motion some massive consequences for many months to follow.'
Jimmy's death will expand the King family graves, which already include patriarch Tom, brothers Matthew and Carl, and half-brother Max. Jimmy's transformation began after he started a family with Nicola Blackstock (Nicola Wheeler), and his children's return is directly tied to his exit.
Angelica's Troubled Past
Angelica's most prominent storyline saw her sentenced to eight months in a youth facility after her role in the death of Heath Hope (Sebastian Dowling). She drove a car containing Heath and his twin sister Cathy (Gabrielle Dowling), crashing into a wall; Heath was pronounced dead at the scene. While Nicola and Jimmy considered concealing the crime, Angel eventually told the truth and faced the consequences.
Elliot, the eldest son, was born to Jimmy and Kelly Windsor (Adele Silva), who left him with his father and step-mother to appear on a reality show. Younger brother Carl Holliday (Charlie Joyce), the result of a sperm mix-up, appeared in an indecent images storyline last year, but Elliot and Angelica have been absent for nearly two years.
Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 and ITVX.
