Emmerdale fans have been left speechless after uncovering the famous lookalikes of Joe Tate actor Ned Porteous. Viewers noted the striking resemblance between Porteous and YouTuber George Clarke, who competed on last year's series of Strictly Come Dancing, as well as American actor David Corenswet, who played Superman in the 2025 DC Universe film.
Joe Tate's Return and Current Storyline
Joe, played by Ned Porteous, is the orphaned son of Christopher Tate and Rachel Hughes, and half-brother of Noah Dingle. He was forced to flee the village in 2018 after his step-grandmother Kim Tate wanted him killed. Following a confrontation with Cain Dingle, where Joe was punched and presumed dead, his right-hand man Graham Foster secretly helped him go into hiding.
Joe made a shock return on Christmas Eve 2024, which led to the death of Will Taylor. Since then, he has had an affair with Dawn Fletcher behind her husband Billy's back, stolen Caleb Miligan's kidney, and caused the limo crash that killed Amy Barton, Leyla Harding, and Suzy Merton. After stealing Butler's Farm from Moira Dingle, Joe is now planning his wedding to Dawn, who is pregnant with his child.
Fans Compare Ned Porteous to Famous Twins
Avid soap viewers pointed out the likeness to YouTuber George Clarke, who was partnered with professional dancer Alexis Warr on Strictly Come Dancing. The pair made it to the final and finished as joint runners-up, behind winners Karen Carney and Carlos Gu. One Emmerdale fan wrote on Reddit: "Such a lookalike. Saw Joe Tate's back (haven't watched in a while) but thought his face looked familiar. Remembering his old look, they look CRAZY similar to me. Second picture is a YouTuber called George Clarke." Another agreed: "I was thinking the exact same, they look like twins!"
Meanwhile, someone else noticed Ned's striking resemblance to David Corenswet, who took on the leading role of Superman in James Gunn's 2025 DC Universe film. "Don't forget David Corenswet's current look!! Looks so much like Ned haha," the fan commented, with another sharing: "Oh my god!!! Literally!"
Dawn Fletcher's Possible Departure
Joe and Dawn's wedding could be derailed, as Dawn star Olivia Bromley is rumoured to be leaving the soap after bosses reportedly decided to write her out. A source told The Sun: "Olivia is adored by everyone at Emmerdale so the decision to axe her has not gone down well at all. She's a popular member of the cast and if they can get rid of Olivia, then the feeling is virtually no-one is safe." Neither the soap nor Olivia herself have confirmed the news.
Emmerdale airs weekday nights at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
