Emmerdale fans stunned by DS Thea Ramsden star's past role

Emmerdale viewers have been left surprised after discovering where they have seen DS Thea Ramsden actress Chelsea Edge before. Thea made her debut on the ITV soap earlier this year as the police officer investigating the death of Dr Caitlin Todd (Caroline Harker). Caitlin, who sexually assaulted and blackmailed Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins), was accidentally killed by Charity's granddaughter Sarah Sugden (Katie Hill). Charity has since taken the blame and gone to prison.

Thea's connection to Kim Tate

It has also been revealed that Thea has a connection to fellow newcomer Serena (Casey Al-Shaqsy). In a major twist, it was confirmed that Thea is the long-lost daughter of Kim Tate (Claire King). Thea is seeking revenge after Kim abandoned her as a baby and gave her up for adoption years ago.

Fans recognise the actress

Some fans have recently been stunned after learning about Chelsea Edge's TV past. On an Emmerdale Facebook fan page, one person said: "Can someone tell me where I've seen Thea before? I recognise her face." Another fan explained: "Death in Paradise." A third added: "She was in Death in Paradise, played Ralf Little's girlfriend." Someone else declared: "That's where I recognise her from."

Previous TV roles

Chelsea played Sophie Chambers in BBC's Death in Paradise, who was the girlfriend of DI Neville Parker (Ralf Little). Sophie appeared as a backpacker and quickly began a romance with DI Neville, but things took a dramatic turn when she framed him for the death of criminologist David Cartwright (Patrick Kennedy). Chelsea appeared in the programme for seven episodes from 2022 to 2023.

Her other TV credits include Sky comedy Brassic alongside Michelle Keegan, 2020's I Hate Suzie, and the BBC drama Reunion, which aired last year. Speaking previously about her Death in Paradise character, Chelsea explained: "When you go on holiday you have a little crush and you know it's not going to last forever. But I think she has such a soft spot for him and coming away from it – she's trying to be a realist – coming back, she's like, 'How have I left this incredible island and this guy I really like.' She doesn't want to let it go."

Emmerdale airs Monday to Friday at 8:00pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
