Emmerdale fans are convinced they know what will happen next after Cain Dingle fell while alone with Monty in the woods. Actor Jeff Hordley first appeared as Cain Dingle in 2000 and has been a permanent fixture since 2009.
Cain's Cancer Diagnosis
Cain has been at the centre of a major storyline after being diagnosed with prostate cancer. He recently opened up to his family and wife Moira about his diagnosis after trying to deal with it alone. He struggled with whether to undergo radiotherapy after surgery failed to remove all the cancer.
Initially deciding against treatment due to side effects, Cain changed his mind after Monty the dog faced his own cancer diagnosis. While cuddling Monty, Cain said: "If there was anything I could do to make things better for you, you know I would, don't you? I would, you know, in a heartbeat." After confirming Monty would go into palliative care, Cain hinted at reconsidering radiotherapy.
The Camping Trip
During Thursday's (July 24) episode, Kyle asked Cain to go camping for Cadet training, but Cain refused due to Monty's condition. Moira then asked Cain to spend time together, but he lied, saying he had already agreed to take Kyle camping. The next day, Cain was unhappy to see Graham Foster join them after Kyle had invited him.
In the woods, Cain felt belittled as a father and stormed off after Kyle said he didn't want Graham to leave. Monty followed, and the episode ended with Cain on the floor, having fallen and in pain with no one around.
