Emmerdale fans are convinced that newcomer Serena Sugden has a secret link to the Tate family after she was revealed as the thief who stole a USB stick from Home Farm. The character, played by Casey Al-Shaqsy, arrived in the Dales last month and surprised residents by claiming to be a member of the legendary Sugden family.
Serena's Arrival and Suspicious Behavior
Serena first appeared after finding Charity Dingle in distress at a lake following an assault by Dr. Todd. Since then, she has been asking questions about John Sugden, raising suspicions among those who knew him. Vanessa Woodfield noticed Serena reading an article about the death of Nate Robinson, who was killed by John before his body was disposed of in the lake. Vanessa confided in Moira Dingle, who agreed that something was amiss. Moira then called Robert Sugden, who later learned from ex-husband Kev Barton that Vanessa was once a police officer.
Last week, Serena finally explained her connection to John: her mother was struggling financially, so John cashed in his army pension early to help them. Serena claimed she still had some of his money and wanted to offer it to his victims. She later visited the police station after learning that Vic Sugden killed John in self-defense. While Robert believes Serena won't betray them, Aaron is less convinced.
The Home Farm Theft
On Monday (July 20), Kim Tate heard a mysterious noise at Home Farm and investigated with a shotgun. She called Ross Barton to come over. Suspecting Moira Dingle, Kim sent Ross to question her. Later, Kim discovered a USB stick had been stolen from her computer. A quick glimpse at the laptop screen showed photos of the Tates, including the late Frank Tate, and many folders. The laptop closed, revealing Serena as the thief.
Fans are now speculating about Serena's motives. On a Reddit thread, u/soapfan85 questioned: "I'm really intrigued about the Home Farm theft stuff... why would she target Kim unless it's linked to someone like Graham or Jamie?" u/typicalbobat1088 added: "What does Serena want with Kim? She targeted Kim. And why does Kim have a picture of Frank on her USB stick? Theories: She knows Jamie or she is a distant relative to Kim."
u/jakefsf4205 theorized: "My personal theory is that she's trying to get back into Robert and Aaron's good graces by helping them own the farm outright and is trying to find something to blackmail the Tates with. She failed here since the USB stick only has random pictures on it but maybe that's why she gets close to Ross this week, to get access to Home Farm to keep looking."
