Emmerdale fans in tears as Kim Tate devastated by double exit

Emmerdale has aired the double exit of two key characters, leaving Kim Tate inconsolable. During Thursday's (October 1) trip to the Dales, Home Farm owner Kim (Claire King) was ecstatic to see Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) return from the hospital, cradling his baby son, and thought Joe had changed his mind.

Joe confirms adoption plan

Kim instantly flew into grandmother mode and planned to go shopping for baby essentials and organise the nursery for the new arrival. But her joy was short-lived when Joe confirmed the newborn would be adopted and was only visiting so Kim could say goodbye.

The news left Kim absolutely devastated, but there was more bad news as Graham confirmed he was also leaving. She begged Graham to stay, but he knew that he had to follow through with his side of the agreement.

Graham's final warning

This week on the ITV soap, Graham Foster (Andrew Scarborough) has been trying to convince Joe Tate not to have his new baby son adopted. On Wednesday (September 30), he resorted to playing an old video of Dawn Taylor (Olivia Bromley) to remind Joe how excited they both were about becoming parents, but it didn't work.

Graham took a harsher approach and called Joe "spineless" for giving up on baby Tate, and in response, Joe slapped him across the face. The two men later visited the premature tot in hospital when Joe demanded Graham organise the adoption.

In that moment, Graham played his final card and told Joe that if he helped him have baby Tate adopted, it would be the last thing he did for him, and he would leave his life forever afterward.

Heartbreaking departure

Graham and Kim agreed that Joe would regret his decision to let his son go, with Graham also asking Kim to keep an eye on struggling Joe in his absence.

Moments later, in a heartbreaking scene, Graham left Home Farm with baby Tate in his arms, telling everyone he'd give the tot to social services before the adoption. Will he be back?

Emmerdale fans were left in tears at the double exit and by Kim's emotional reaction. Taking to X, one person wrote: "Watching Kim in tonight's episode reminded us of Kim losing her beloved David in 1996. The heartbreak was so raw for her! Emmerdale."

A second exclaimed: "Oh my gosh, Kim’s scenes today in #emmerdale (heartbreaking) Claire King is truly an amazing actress". A third chimed in: "Gutted for Kim when passing the baby to Graham! Hate Joe #Emmerdale."

"Kim and Graham making me sad at this hour? What is going on (crying face emoji)", confessed one fan. "You’ll certainly need a tissue or two for today’s episode (crying face) Claire, Andrew and Ned were fantastic #Emmerdale", added another.

Emmerdale airs weekdays on ITV and ITVX.
