Emmerdale fans have called out Robert Sugden as they're worried that the writers have forgotten a key character.
Fans were ecstatic when Robert Sugden made an unexpected return to the village last year. He showed up in the Dales just as ex-husband Aaron Dingle prepared to say "I do" to John Sugden.
Although Robert attempted to get Aaron back his efforts were rejected as Aaron vowed to move on without him. The pair attempted to get things back on track, however, as John recently fled the country after his harrowing crimes were exposed - including the murder of Nate Robinson, holding Mackenzie Boyd captive, and framing Robert for throwing himself and Aaron over the edge of a cliff.
Just as Aaron hoped that him and Robert could start again, another obstacle was thrown into the mix. That obstacle being Robert's prison husband, Kev Barton (formerly Townsend).
Robert's Prison Husband Returns
In the months that followed, Kev was determined to keep Robert as his husband but after learning that him and Aaron were set to rekindle, he wielded a sword and threatened them. It wasn't until he was held captive by John Sugden earlier this year that Kev vowed to leave them alone.
Of course, John attempted once more to save his relationship with Aaron but he was killed by Victoria in self-defence during the epic Corriedale crossover.
Kev recently returned, but promised to leave Robert and Aaron in the past as his main concern was to build a relationship with his biological son Lewis.
It's proved difficult, however, as Nicola King and Ross Barton made their feelings towards him clear in an attempt to protect Lewis. However, Ross soon sided with Kev after the latter decided to lie about who robbed the cafe so that Lewis wouldn't find out that it was Ross and Nicola trying to frame Kev.
Nicola has been much more difficult to impress, and in the last visit to Emmerdale Kev was wounded after learning that he didn't even know when Lewis' birthday was.
Fans Question Robert's Advice
As Robert came into the cafe, he supported Kev and tried to convince him to take baby steps with Lewis and to not rush into anything. However, fans soon called out that Robert should be doing the same thing with his son Seb.
Robert fathered Sebastian after a one-night stand with Rebecca White as he cheated on Aaron. Rebecca gave birth in 2017, but Robert struggled to adjust to being a father.
After snatching Seb to stop him from moving away to Australia, Robert was chased by Rebecca who got hit by a lorry and suffered brain damage as a result.
When realising she was struggling to care for her son with the injury, she gave Aaron and Robert a chance to look after him instead. As she entered a relationship with Ross Barton, he became another father figure to Seb, and they eventually moved away to Liverpool in 2018.
However, Seb returned to the village a few times to see Aaron, but Rebecca put a stop to this as he kept asking questions about where Robert could be. When Ross returned to the village alone last year, he revealed that Rebecca had sadly died and Seb was living with her aunt in Bristol.
On a Reddit thread, u/typicalbobcat1088 wrote: "The concept of Robert giving parenting advice to Kev when the writers could be focusing on him and Seb.." as on X @ryansoapking25 asked: "So Robert suddenly forgets that his son Seb exists?"
@tygertigs fumed: "Do @emmerdale realise how enraging this is. Kev is being given more connections in the village than Robert, can bond with his son & it's been six months since we had a mention of #robron getting to even see Seb. Why even mention it then if they were going to completely drop it."
