Emmerdale couple Charity and Mack face split after cheating
Emmerdale couple to split after cheating comes to light

Charity Dingle and Mackenzie Boyd may be facing an unexpected separation, leaving viewers devastated. The couple, who began their relationship in late 2021, have had a tumultuous journey, especially in recent months.

Affair revealed

Mack discovered his wife Charity's brief encounter with Ross Barton, which resulted in Charity falling pregnant. This came at a time when Charity had agreed to act as a surrogate for her granddaughter, Sarah Sugden. It later emerged that the child was Ross's and bore no biological connection to Sarah or her husband Jacob Gallagher.

Assault and support

Despite being devastated by Charity's dishonesty, Mack set aside his emotions to support her following her sexual assault by the sinister Dr Todd.

Potential split hinted

Now, speaking to Reach and other media, Charity actress Emma Atkins has hinted that a separation could be looming. "With soaps you just don't know what's around the corner. It might suddenly take an extreme turn and she [Charity] might be met with him [Mack] saying, 'I just can't do it anymore,'" Emma said.

When asked what she hopes lies ahead for Charity and Mack, she added: "Selfishly as an actor working with Lawrence, I'd be gutted if that came to an end." She continued: "But then again, every time I sign my contract I always accept that you don't know who you're going to be working with, you don't know what's going to happen to your character. The longevity is only as long as your contract is. I've always had that mentality so I've always been ok with change and I think change is so good, it's so rewarding because you get pushed into another dimension where you're working with an actor that you think, 'I don't know how I'm going to be working with you but I'll give it go,' and before you know it, you think you might not have that chemistry and then you've got chemistry."

Emma added: "And I'm always like who knows? But I will miss working with Lawrence if they chose to split us up. But if they do split us up I think everyone will probably understand why."

Emmerdale airs Monday to Friday at 8:00pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
