Emma Willis has shared the touching message she received from Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman ahead of her debut as a host on Strictly Come Dancing. The former Big Brother presenter, 50, will co-host the BBC dance show alongside comedian Josh Widdicombe, 43, and professional dancer Johannes Radebe, 39, replacing the long-standing duo.
Supportive Words from Predecessors
Speaking to The Sun, Emma disclosed that Tess and Claudia have been entirely encouraging since she secured the role. "We've had a little back and forth, yes, and they were lovely," she said. "They just said, 'Congrats, well done, you'll smash it'. And I was like, 'S***!' No tips. Just lots of kind words."
Tess, 57, and Claudia, 54, announced their mutual decision to leave the programme in October 2025, ending Tess's 21-year stint as host since the show's inaugural series. Claudia joined as co-host in 2014, having fronted the companion show It Takes Two since 2004. Their final appearance was the Christmas special broadcast on December 25, 2025.
Ambitions for the New Era
Looking forward to the revamped programme, Emma suggested that she and her co-presenters have ambitious intentions. "We will bring fun and joy - and that's what the show is. It's a big celebration of life and individuality," she said. "Hopefully we will continue to do it justice. It's super, super important that we have full representation on screen. I think Strictly do it brilliantly."
Emma, Josh, and Johannes will join the distinguished judging panel, featuring Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, Anton Du Beke, and Head Judge Shirley Ballas, who will oversee the performances throughout the series.
Contestants Announced So Far
Strictly has already revealed some of the contestants for the 2026 series, including EastEnders legend Lacey Turner, known for her role as Stacey Slater. Dani Dyer is also returning after fracturing her ankle during rehearsals just days before the first live show in 2025, giving her a fresh chance to compete for the glitterball trophy. Singer and actress Delta Goodrem and globally recognised hair stylist Chris Appleton are also among the participants. The full line-up and launch date are yet to be announced.
Strictly Come Dancing returns in 2026 on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
