Emma Watson and Zoe Wanamaker Banned from Driving for Speeding

Harry Potter stars Emma Watson and Zoe Wanamaker have been banned from driving by the same court after admitting speeding offences. Watson, 35, who played Hermione Granger, and Wanamaker, 76, who portrayed Madam Hooch, appeared at High Wycombe Magistrates' Court on Wednesday.

Watson was caught by a speed camera driving her blue Audi at 38mph in a 30mph zone in Oxford on 31 July last year. She received a six-month driving ban and was ordered to pay £1,044 in fines and court costs. Her lawyer, Mark Haslam, told the court she is a student and able to pay.

Wanamaker was caught speeding on 7 August 2024 on the M4 in Newbury, Berkshire, driving her blue Volvo at 46mph in a 40mph limit. She also received a six-month ban and a £1,044 penalty. Her lawyer, Duncan Jones, said she was not seeking special treatment and accepted the fine.

Both actresses had nine penalty points on their licences prior to the latest offences. The addition of three more points triggered an automatic ban. District Judge Arvind Sharma presided over the case.
