Emma Atkins Praises Co-Star After Emmerdale Exit Confirmed

Emma Atkins has shared a heartfelt message for her Emmerdale co-star after their dramatic exit from the village was confirmed. The actress, who has played Charity Dingle since 2000, praised Caroline Harker, who portrays Dr Caitlin Todd.

Dr Todd's Villainous Storyline

Dr Todd subjected Charity to weeks of blackmail over the true parentage of Leyla Sugden before sexually assaulting her. The menacing doctor later left the village for a new role in Sheffield, but a recent flashforward revealed her death, confirming Caroline Harker's departure.

Emma Atkins' Tribute

In an interview, Emma Atkins said: "I can't big this woman up enough. I adore her; she is so gorgeous in every way. She's such a team player and that's what she brought every day." She added: "Just a delight to work with, we were serious when we needed to be serious and then when we needed to switch off from it because of the nature of it, we would have a giggle together as friends."

Emma continued: "I hope to keep in touch with her. Well we text each other from time to time but what an incredible actress. Just wow, no one could have played it as well."

Dr Todd's Arrival and Impact

Dr Todd first appeared last year, making medical student Jacob Sugden's life miserable through gaslighting and highlighting his errors. She then shifted focus to Charity, leading to the assault and blackmail.

Emmerdale airs Monday to Friday at 8:00pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
