Emily Atack Opens Up About Teen Pregnancy and Assault

Emily Atack has made a series of deeply personal revelations during an interview on Elizabeth Day's How To Fail podcast, disclosing that she was sexually assaulted at the age of 10 and fell pregnant at 16 while in an "awful, abusive, horrible relationship". The actor also spoke about her parents' divorce and the ongoing mistreatment she experienced from older men throughout her life.

Childhood Trauma and Teen Pregnancy

Atack revealed that the pregnancy at 16 "didn't continue", and described the relationship as deeply damaging. She also opened up about being sexually assaulted at the age of 10, an experience that has shaped her life. The actor has previously spoken about feeling sexualised from a young age and has been an advocate for women's rights.

Motherhood and Health Scare

Atack welcomed her first child, a son named Barney, with her fiancé, scientist Dr Alistair Garner, in June 2024. Following Barney's birth, she suffered a life-threatening illness, sepsis, which left her unable to leave the house for weeks. She has since recovered and has spoken about the joy of motherhood.
