Emily Atack, best known for playing Charlotte in The Inbetweeners, is back on TV in Channel 5's new thriller The Rumour. The 35-year-old actress and comedian, who has also appeared on Dancing on Ice and I'm A Celebrity, comes from a family of stars.
Her father is musician Keith Atack, a former member of 70s pop group Child, and her mother is actress and singer Kate Robbins. Kate shot to fame in the soap Crossroads and had a top ten single with 'More Than in Love'. She also starred in Spitting Image for nine years and has appeared in shows including EastEnders and Death in Paradise.
Emily's mother has three sisters who are all successful: Amy Robbins is an actress known for ITV's The Royal, Jane Robbins is a sculptor, and Emma Robbins was a member of novelty group The Sheilas. Kate's older brother, Ted Robbins, is an actor and comedian best known for Phoenix Nights.
Emily also has an extraordinary family tie to Sir Paul McCartney. She is a first cousin twice removed of the Beatles legend. Her grandmother Elizabeth Robbins was Sir Paul's first cousin. Emily revealed on a podcast: 'Paul is my grandmother's first cousin. At school I went around saying he was my uncle.' She added that Lady Madonna was inspired by her grandmother.
The Rumour begins airing on Channel 5 at 9pm on Wednesday, 10 September.
