Strictly It Takes Two host Ellie Taylor is married to Phil Black, one of CNN's top journalists. The couple met in a Central London lift and wed in 2014 at a private ceremony in London. They share two children, a daughter born in 2018 and a son born in 2023.
From Chance Meeting to Marriage
Ellie, who first shot to fame in the 2010s, appeared on Strictly Come Dancing in 2022 and this year became the host of spin-off show It Takes Two, replacing Janette Manrara and Fleur East. Away from the TV sets, she is loved-up with her husband.
According to Ellie, meeting Phil for the first time was down to a chance meeting in a Central London lift. Speaking to Express.co.uk, Ellie confirmed that she had broken up with her boyfriend and was intending to be single for a while. Then a few days later, she took the lift in her office, and Phil got in too.
Phil Black's Career
Phil Black has covered some of the biggest stories of our time, from the Boxing Day Tsunami in 2004 to the search for Madeleine McCann and the Princess Diana inquest. He started out as a researcher on Australia's Channel Nine Gateway programme, working his way up to a producer and a reporter before becoming a correspondent for Seven News.
Marriage Setup
During an appearance on the Second Act Podcast earlier this year, the comedian spoke with Ateh Jewel about the unique dynamic of her marriage to Phil. She said: "Do you know, my husband's a stay-at-home dad?" She added that this arrangement makes it difficult for her to relinquish the role of primary carer, admitting she ends up "micromanaging" her husband.
"I don't know anyone in my life who has the same setup as us; we don't have anyone who's a stay-at-home dad. So we are kind of making up as we go along," she continued, adding, "And it's really interesting when the power dynamic or the classic power dynamic of the 'mum at home, dad at work' shifts. It's quite weird because you're kind of in free fall."
